Tom’s prior career included a variety of increasing responsibilities across several segments and industries. At Delta Air Lines he served in Engineering in several roles including Program Engineer for the MD-11 and B-757 fleets. He later joined the corporate real estate team where he was actively involved in many contract and lease negotiations of all sizes and levels of complexity, ultimately serving as the head of Delta’s real estate group, a team of 11 Regional Managers with global real estate responsibilities and an annual budget of over $350mm. Tom also has experience with industrial and commercial property leasing and management, leading a team with responsibility for real estate transactions, renovation, maintenance and support of over 3.0 million s.f. of technical operations and hangar space in Atlanta alone, along with similar properties and Delta locations across the U.S.
Tom was fortunate to lead an internal business development team at Delta that established the wireless internet service that remains in effect in airline business lounges across the nation. He was also General Manager of the delta.com team that designed, deployed, managed and supported a full suite of online self service capabilities, including online check-in, frequent flyer mileage redemption and hotel, rental car and vacation rentals.
After 23 years at Delta Tom accepted an opportunity with autotrader.com in the program management department where he personally led the company’s largest technology projects. Of particular note he served as Program Director for the company’s corporate headquarters relocation in 2004-2005. This program included the full renovation of a 17 story office tower and the relocation of over 1300 employees from 5 different buildings across 13 moves.
Tom has an Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Southern University and an MBA from Georgia State University. He lives in Peachtree City and enjoys many outdoor activities including triathlons, water sports, motorcycling, tennis and running. He is active at Southside Church in Peachtree City, having served as a small group leader for several years. He is also active in the community, having participated in multiple community service events across the metro Atlanta area, including Ronald McDonald House, Habitat For Humanity, Foster Care support and Atlanta Food Bank. Tom serves as the head of his homeowner’s association, is currently the Vice Chair of the Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity board of directors, and is a member of the Peachtree City Airport Authority.
