September 12, 2007

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and the Fayette County Development Authority (FCDA) announced today that Sany America, Inc. (Sany), a manufacturer of heavy construction equipment, is locating its U.S. headquarters and its first U.S. assembly plant in Peachtree City, in an estimated $100 million investment project. Sany is a division of Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., which is based in Changsha, Hunan Province, China and which in 2006 exceeded $594 million in sales volume worldwide.

Sany will begin construction on a $30 million phase one of the project in the first quarter of 2008. Phase one will consist of a 400,000 square foot assembly/testing/training/office site in the Peachtree City Industrial Park. Construction on phase one is expected to take between 18 – 24 months. Phase one will employee 200 people over the first five years of operation. Future phases at the Fayette County site will include additional product assembly lines as well as a corporate office campus and R&D facility and will employee up to 400 additional people, for a total employment of 600.

Sany initially will assemble concrete pump trucks and stand alone trailer mounted concrete pumps, which are used in the construction of high-rise buildings and other concrete structures requiring poured in place concrete, such as dams. Future products may include asphalt pavers, road graders, excavators and other heavy construction equipment.

Mr. Lincoln Liang, President of Sany America, said that Peachtree City and Fayette County stood out among other considered locations due to its unique mixture of corporate quality meets small town America. “Locating in Peachtree City and Fayette County allows us to create a world class investment in a world class community. There are industries and corporate headquarters from around the world here showing that it is business-friendly and international, yet families travel around the city in their golf carts on an amazing cart path system, showing that it really is a special and friendly place.” In addition he said, “this facility on the south side of Atlanta occupies an important geographical location with convenient transportation for our distribution network.”

FCDA staff initially met with Sany officials in August 2006 while they were scouting communities in Georgia as guests of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDED). They returned in September 2006 to further identify sites for a project facility. In June 2007 FCDA staff, along with officials from GDED, Georgia Power, the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation and Georgia Tech, traveled to China to visit the company leaders at their international headquarters facility in Changsha. At this time they met with Co-CEO Xiaogang Yi and discussed the benefits of Metro Atlanta, Fayette County and Peachtree City.

According to Harold Logsdon, Mayor of Peachtree City, “Peachtree City’s industrial park is home to many companies from countries around the world – Germany, Japan, Canada, and Sweden, just to name a few. It is an honor that Sany has chosen to invest in the community, bringing a world-class facility and hundreds of jobs to Fayette County, and adding the rich culture and distinguished history of China to Peachtree City’s international community.”

Jack Smith, Chairman of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners added, “We are especially excited about being selected as the location for the largest Chinese company recruited to Georgia by the state and by our local marketing team at the Fayette County Development Authority. With their long-term investment plans and their ability to provide for high-paying, highly-skilled jobs, we know that Sany will be a major asset to our local economy and tax base. In addition, we look forward to growing our status as the home for international corporate headquarters.”

Matt Forshee, President & CEO of the FCDA continued, “Sany Heavy Industry is a company with a great and wonderful history in China. Our citizens in Fayette County expect a certain level of quality in the businesses and industries we recruit to our community. Having visited their headquarters in China, I can emphatically state that we have found that level of quality with Sany. Within ten years, this will be one of the largest and most successful companies in Fayette County, and we look forward to helping them grow. We also hope that this first foray into China will allow us to tap into the pipeline that is Chinese companies expanding to the U.S.”

Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., currently has assembly facilities in China and India with sales in over 100 countries. They are publicly traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (A-Listed) and have a growth rate of 40% over the last twelve months.

Fayette County and Peachtree City are home to the U.S. headquarters of international companies such as Cooper Lighting, Cooper Wiring Devices, Hoshizaki America, Panasonic Automotive, Rinnai America, Shinsei, Sigvaris, Wilden Plastics and World Air Holdings.

Pathway Communities, the developer of Peachtree City, is set to close on the sale of the property to Sany America later this fall.
